What is Alt.TV.Red-Dwarf?

Alt.TV.Red-Dwarf (or as it's better known, ATVRD) is a newsgroup carried on most news servers, and those that it's not carried on are missing out!

A number of things happen in ATVRD, from friendly chat to posting wars, jokey banter to spamming, people saying "would anybody like some toast?" to someone shoving the toast down the throat of the person who said "would anyone like some toast?" but only for the people who stick around long enough to fully appreciate the nuances (and some say cliquey atmosphere) would the NG seem truly like a community.

Also, there is no such thing as a netcop in ATVRD, just like there is no such thing as the newsgroup equivalent of a village idiot...we all take turns at it when we feel it's necessary.

Now I know that technically that was one rule, but it is such a BIG one it was worth wasting that quote on :-) The primer is full of the "rules and regulations" of ATVRD...although they're more the conventions, a sort of "the way ATVRD works is this"...and have been agreed on among the ATVRD "community", you don't wanna go blundering in with your size 12s (speaking from bitter experience :)
