ATVRD
Who are you likely to meet there?
What would an NG be without its people? A bloody boring NG!
To add/add to/edit/remove your entry, email SmeggerUK and include the text of the new entry. Please also include the title of the current entry and include the new title if you would like to change it....alternatively, use the form at the bottom of the page
Amy
Bonjella
Amy Bonjella is normally to be found in the #Starbug
channel, although the rumour is she will be posting more to ATVRD in the
near future. Amy is currently at Staffordshire Uni doing Computer Science,
a fascinating course that does not sidetrack her too much from the main reasons
for her existence. Books and HTML. Amy reads constantly, and when she has
finished she likes nothing better than re-creating her 2 or 3 personal web
sites! Amy Bonjella is best known for terrible spelling, large hair and the
most atrocious jokes - though she keeps these under wraps for most of the
time...
Ang
(a.k.a A. Rosin)
Ang is one of the friendly faces of ATVRD,
unless you get on her wrong side (speaking from bitter
experience). Ang is also famous for the ATVRD Primer
(on this site as well as posted regularly in the NG) and her "Do
I come often" top at one of the ATVRD London Meets (okay,
it really said "do I come here often?" but the photo said
otherwise) and the site www.ermitang.co.uk
which is currently under construction.
Colin
Lockhart
Col's posts are usually identifiable by his .sig which hasn't changed
(other than slight changes to the text) since I've been subscribed
to ATVRD (although that really isn't that long).
Then again, it's a good quote, so I'm not moaning. There is a rumour going
around that it isn't Colin posting, and he has a fleet of monkeys doing all
the typing for him (and thinking? :-)) but you
never heard it from me!
Colin posts regularly to the newsgroup, averaging about 5-6 posts a day (taken
from the Garth-o-meter) and he rarely starts threads, usually just
contributing to them.
When not in ATVRD, Colin enjoys watching paint dry (he
does it for a living)
Daff
The NGs resident piss artist, Daff is never seen without a drink.
He has learned to breathe at the same time as drinking so he doesn't need
to put the glass down for a second. Daff posts fairly regularly, but sparsely,
and most of them seem to be drink-related for some reason. Daff also has a
website, so point your browsers at www.daff.net...if
you're interested in Transformers, that is.....Final word from Daff...Beer!
David
Meen
David Meen has his own server running at http://dmeen.tripod.com,
so go and take a look...maybe even download a whole episode of Red Dwarf if
you're so inclined...or maybe just one of the games he's got there
(non-RD) or summat like that.
Derek
Custer
Derek (his real name is Kevin), the former C.E.O.
of the Domus Appreciation Society (I'm sure he means
"Domes" appreciation :-)) is seen in the NewsGroup less and
less lately. It's probably something to do with the $50 he gets for each new
member of the D.A.S. of which he is now a proud ex-member!
Derek Custer currently resides in Fayetteville, Arkansa, and is 32 years old.
He has resigned his post as C.E.O. of the D.A.S. as things were "getting
on top of him"...some guys have all the luck :-)
Garth
Garth is an AI computer holed up somewhere in the country, designed as part
of a bizarre experiment by a group of undergraduates...except when they passed
their exams they were so ecstatic they forgot to shut him down, and he's managed
to hack into the NG server at the college and is running amok...
...If you believe the hype, that is!
Garth posts daily to the
newsgroup, and other people's posting is compared to Garth's at the Garth-o-meter.
And no he isn't really an AI program on some computer...AI systems
have a spellchecker, usually! :-)
Jeff
Braine
Jeff Braine is another
of those guys who remembers the good ol' days when computers were computers
and they weren't loading properly if they didn't sound like a cat being strangled...he
should love the PCs then :-)
He's also got a number of interesting sites (if you're
into that sorta thing) out there, one of which he works on as part
of a team, and is all about those lovely retro computers like the Speccy
and the Commodores (and I don't mean the band)...you
can see this site at http://www.retrospec.co.uk
and you can see more info (and a piccy with one of those lovely "loading
screen" things you used to see on the Speccys around it at http://www.retrospec.co.uk/who.html
(he's the third nutter down the page)
There's also some (quite frankly) scary pics
of him at http://www.uq.net.au/~zzjbrain/piccies.htm
. They're also quite (ahem) large pics, and take
a while to load, but they're worth it for the laughter...You'll never think
of Jeff in the same light again...and they say I'M weird :-)
Jeff is a relative newbie to the ATVRD newsgroup, and (to
quote him) he "lurked for ages on and off. Then decloaked when
(he) saw opportunities to make silly comments...
"
Jeff also posts on and off, fairly sporadically, and always accompanied by his ICQ# and an advert for his site (see above)....Please give retro computers generously!
Kryten
The newsgroup resident comedian. He's 30 looks, like a fat jesus and thinks
feeding the 5000 would make a nice snack. :o) He's performed at venues around
the country including Jongleurs and the world famous Comedy Store in London.
He's appeared in two major Hollywood pictures, in Superman 4 you can just
see his hair and in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade he was left on the
cutting room floor, if he had been left in the film you may have seen an arm
thrwoing a book. :o) He's big, he's bouncy and Yes, he did eat all the pies.
He doesn't run around screaming loudly with an axe........well maybe if you ask nicely, but he draws the line at womens clothing.
Lisa
Lake (a.k.a. Domus)
Lisa Lake, or Domus as she prefers to be known, is a friendly and helpful
gal who would go out of her way to help people if she feels she is able
(and no, this isn't Domus writing this). At time of writing, she is
one half of the writing team behind this website (there
may be more people joining the MURDER scene team). For a picture of
her chest, go to this URL.
Lord
Melchett
Lord Melchett is a sporadic regular (a regular to the
NG, although he posts sporadically) to the newsgroup, he pops in from
time to time, or it seems that way at least! He's now taken on the ATVRD ICQ
list so if you're wondering what the ICQ# of one of the ATVRD posse is, slide
your browsers towards http://mmright.com/gpn/icq.html...If
you want to add your ICQ# to that list, it's also a possibility. He's also
a regular at #Starbug and his nick there is "Melchett".
He is a Math Major, a keen guitarist (and doesn't have
to play outside the spaceship) and he lives in San Jose, California.
(Mat)
Zebrowski
A distinction needs
to be made between Mat (good) and Tom
(Bad) Zebrowski, as they are two different people. One talks about
masturbating to Britney Spears and the other is Tom....er...Mat. :-)
Anyway, onto Mat, who currently lives in Canada. Mat is a regular poster to
the newsgroup, although the content of the posts themselves are anything but
regular. Mat rarely starts threads but has kept many threads going by posting
to them
Myfanwy
Coghill (a.k.a. Miff)
Myfanwy, better known as Miff, is part of the Aussie contingent of ATVRD...although
we've yet to hear her tell someone to "nick off" or "get rooted"
:-) (does that mean Neighbours and Home and Away don't
actually reflect "real" life? I don't believe it!)
Seriously...Miff posts fairly regularly to ATVRD on a number of subjects,
and will help people out if she is able. She's also a good debater...so don't
get into any debates/arguments/flames with her...
Patrick
Bateman
Patrick is known for his knowledge of Red Dwarf, and has been a member of
the ATVRD community since 1994. He posts sparsely, as and when he finds a
post which interests him, so you will see him around every so often.
Peter
Chant
Peter Chant is the geezer who brought us the Garth-o-meter
and I suspect the AI system that Garth AI is running also...although he'd
vehemently deny it. Peter Chant has a website at www.petezilla.co.uk
and if you're really lucky you'll find the Ted
Dwarf parody of Father Ted and Red Dwarf.
Raul
Beltizer
waiting for agreement to the text
Rob
Rob is the webmaster and owner at www.rdw.org
and for anyone who knows the site and remembers its demise a while back (Feb,
for those who can't remember), it's back for a second season. Rob rarely
posts to ATVRD and rarely goes to #starbug either, but he's worth mentioning
as he's the webmaster of a damn fine website...although nothing like this
place (different aims, for a start)
Skutter
No reply yet to my email
SmeggerUK
(I admit it's unfair that I do my own entry,
so I will be truthful about myself.)
SmeggerUK is someone who posts far too bloody much for his own good, who doesn't
seem to listen to what people say about the way he posts...but slowly does
change his actions over time. Red Dwarf knowledge is sketchy but for the most
part accurate. Remembers lines and episodes, but isn't that great at actually
putting them together straight away. Interests include comedy, computers,
music (some sorts) and videoes
(currently has a collection of about 200 videoes, and he's only 21)
Steve
B
Steve B is a regular
(albeit sometimes sporadic) poster to alt.tv.red-dwarf,
and has been reading since the "good old days" of 1996. For the the longest
time, he was the lone representative of Middle America. Although nominated
for the POTM several times over the years, he has yet to bring home the big
prize. In 1998, Steve was in charge of running the NGPotY vote, and ran a
mighty damn fine vote. He's getting married soon, and everyone is invited
to attend! Steve has also broke with the "new" convention of marrying people
with the same first letter in their name and is marrying.....well, if you
stick around the group long enough, you should be able to work that out for
yourself.
Tafka
The webmaster at www.smegweb.co.uk,
Tafka is a regular poster to the newsgroup, although he posts sparsely at
the moment due to exams which are bloody annoying and time consuming and he
knows what his real priorities in life are. A lot of his posts are unique
as in they contain Red Dwarf news that hasn't been heard of yet by most of
the ATVRDers. He is also in contact with Rob at RDW and they exchange information
often. Tafka contributes to the newsgroup community through maintaining the
"Welcome To" and "Document Guides" and previously the "Birthday List".
Talkie
toaster
Talkie Toaster (tm, Patent Applied For) is a
relative newbie to ATVRD, having first entered its hallowed portals less than
a month ago (who writes this shi...oh, me! :-))
He's now mostly settled in to the pace of the group and even helps out other
newbies when he can. Although a newbie to ATVRD, he iterates that he is not
a newbie to Red Dwarf itself, having been watching it ever since it first
started airing in his area (Australia)
Talkie Toaster (tm, Patent Applied For) posts
on a fairly regular basis, which is normal for a newbie, so you will probably
be seeing his posts on a fairly regular basis for a while yet.
He would also like to point out that he is not bread-obsessed....Would
you like any toast? :-)
(Tom)
Zebrowski
Tom is the bad guy, although masturbating to Britney Spears doesn't necessarily
make you a bad guy........unless you happen to be in one of her audiences
or the bushes outside her apartment at the time :-)
Tom Zebrowski has more than likely done both, the disgusting pervert! :-)
If you've ever wondered why launderette floors were so sticky...Tom is probably
the reason why...He was last seen (in the newsgroup,
I mean) around the same time I arrived here, about 2 months ago..then
on the 26th May...He was last seen outside of the newsgroup in some bushes
in a park...You know what they say...
"A pull in the hand is worth two in the bush"
